Simon Busse Studio
Stadt Ludwigsburg, Cultural Center

The Cultural Center in Ludwigsburg is a place for learning, communication and culture and it accommodates several cultural facilities. Being in the heart of the city the building acts as a public place for all its citizens. The Stuttgart Office L2M3 Communication Design planned and implemented a digital guidance and information system. Connected with the digital guidance system the spatial configuration of the ground floor where the free accessible areas are integrated where also drafted by L2M3.
Based on the overall concept and design worked out by L2M3, Simon Busse Studio created a holistic furniture design which fulfills the manifold character of the place. Next to the reception counter, whose cubing unfolds as a place of work, are zones for working, as well as places for relaxing. Tables of variable heights, with integrated electrical power supply and light sources, offer sufficient place for a longer or shorter working time. Upholstered pieces of furniture, specially designed and placed on the flight of steps as well on the upper gallery provide oases of retreat. The furniture programme drafted by Simon Busse Studio under the design lead of L2M3 is supplemented by shelves and other fixtures in the wall, where several media could be placed. Black mineral raw material and oak wood are the prevailing materials which are integrated sensitively and cautiously into the existing architecture.
